The Sprague Board of Education reports that it has received and accepted the resignation of Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Judy Benson-Clarke, effective December 1st, 2016.  According to the Board of Education chairman, Michael Smith, Dr. Benson-Clarke informed the Board that she has accepted another position.

“On behalf of the Board of Education we thank Dr. Benson-Clarke for her long and tireless efforts for the children of Sprague,” said Chairman Smith. “I know that I speak for countless children, parents and residents who are appreciative of her work and her longstanding and deeply felt commitment to our children and community.”

Reached for comment, Dr. Benson-Clarke expressed affection for the school district.   "While I am excited about a new professional opportunity, I will always think of the people and children of the Sprague School District with great fondness.” Dr. Benson-Clarke added that “I wish nothing but the very best for the Sprague School District going forward.”

Chairman Smith noted that the Board of Education will immediately turn to the task of appointing an acting superintendent for the district. “As we thank Dr. Benson-Clarke for her service and move forward to select new leadership for our district, I hope and expect that our community will come together to work to ensure the best possible educational experience for our children and community.”

Thank you!

We would like to thank the residents of Sprague, State Senator Cathy Osten, Mary Ellen Sullivan and the Sayles School staff,  and Heather Jakan and the United Way for their generous donations of school supplies.

Please join the Sprague Board of Education in welcoming Mrs. Diana Burns as the new Sayles School Principal.

We are thrilled she will be joining our wonderful school community!
